Frequently Asked Questions

Can I translate very large .po files?
Yes. SimplePoTranslate uses smart batching technology to handle large .po files — including WooCommerce language packs, theme files with thousands of strings, and enterprise-scale translation projects. Files are automatically split into optimized chunks, processed in parallel by our AI engine, and merged back into a single clean output. Variables, placeholders, and plural forms are preserved throughout the entire process.
What does "250,000 strings per month" mean?
A string is a single translatable entry (msgid/msgstr pair) in a .po file — typically a button label, menu item, error message, or paragraph. Most WordPress themes contain 500–2,000 strings, while large plugins like WooCommerce can have 5,000+. The Pro and Lifetime plans support up to 250,000 strings per month, enough for translating dozens of large projects.
How does the fair usage policy work?
SimplePoTranslate counts usage based on strings, but internally applies weighted counting for very long texts. Each string counts as 1 usage unit by default. If a string exceeds the limit, it may consume multiple usage units to ensure fair usage and cover AI processing costs. Short UI strings typically count as a single unit.
How are long texts counted?
Each string counts as one usage unit by default. For strings that are significantly longer than typical UI text (e.g., full paragraphs or product descriptions), weighted counting applies — one long string may consume 2–3 units. This ensures fair pricing while keeping short strings like button labels and menu items lightweight on your quota.
Are my files used to train AI models?
No. Your uploaded .po files are processed solely for translation and are never used to train AI models. Files are stored temporarily on our secure servers and automatically deleted after 30 days (Free plan) or 90 days (Pro/Lifetime). We use Google Gemini AI via secure API — your data is not retained by the AI provider.
Is there a WordPress plugin?
Yes! Our free WordPress plugin (v1.0) includes a string scanner, one-click auto-translation into 40+ languages, an inline editor for fine-tuning, a .pot file generator, and safe import with automatic backups. Install it from your WP admin and manage everything without leaving your dashboard. Learn more on our plugin page.
